Yesterday we brought Robot George to CzechCrunch Future in Prague. It was his first public outing beyond the lab and beyond the environment of a specific industrial partner. The event was led on our behalf by Zdeněk Huspenina, our Chief Business Development Officer.
We have been building Robot George for eight months behind closed doors. Until now, partners had seen him only during visits to the lab or at closed presentations. This was the first moment when anyone from the Czech tech and investor scene could take a look at him.
No Slides, Practically
At the conference, we did not go with a traditional slide show. Instead, we brought the robot physically, set him up at a booth, and opened a discussion over specific points of development. People who stopped by saw eight months of development, the areas in which Robot George already works, and the main challenges we have tackled over the past three quarters of a year.
"This is the first moment we are showing Robot George publicly outside the lab. It is not a demo. It is an entry into the Czech tech community," says Jiří Pálka, our CEO and founder.
"Without big talk, more practically. People want to see something more than just slides. When you put a humanoid in front of them and let him work through a demonstration live, the debate is different," adds Zdeněk Huspenina, our Chief Business Development Officer.
Czech hardware robotics is beginning to leave the phase in which it was visible mainly through press releases and closed presentations. Meeting a Czech humanoid robot live at a public event in Prague was the first opportunity for most CzechCrunch Future visitors.
